How does the Cookie Consent app help with GDPR and CCPA compliance?
The Cookie Consent app helps your website meet privacy regulation requirements by giving visitors control over cookie usage and maintaining proper consent records.
What Is GDPR and CCPA?
- GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) — EU regulation requiring websites to get explicit consent before placing non-essential cookies.
- CCPA (California Consumer Privacy Act) — US state law giving California residents the right to know about and opt out of personal data collection.
Compliance Features
Consent choice
- Visitors either Accept or Cancel the banner. Cookiefy records one consent decision per visitor.
Consent records
- On the Advanced plan, Cookiefy - Privacy Policy → Cookie Consent lists every decision with Customer ID, Visitor ID, Consent and Date.
Google Consent Mode v2
- Turn it on under Cookiefy - Privacy Policy → Integration. The banner then sends granted or denied signals to your Google tags based on the visitor's choice.
Re-consent
- The Days setting in Apperance controls how long a decision is remembered before the banner is shown again.
note
Cookiefy does not block scripts on its own and does not offer per-category cookie choices. If you need non-essential scripts held back until consent, wire them to the Google Consent Mode signals above or gate them yourself.
How to Configure Compliance Settings
- Log in to your AppifyCommerce dashboard.
- Go to Cookiefy - Privacy Policy → Cookie Consent (Advanced plan) to review consent records, or Integration to turn on Google Consent Mode v2.
- Define your cookie categories and which cookies belong to each.
- Set the consent expiry period (how many days before re-asking for consent).
- Click Save to apply.
info
While the Cookie Consent app handles the technical implementation of consent management, ensure your privacy policy is up to date and accurately describes your cookie usage.
