Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how your personal information is collected, used, and shared when you visit or make a purchase from www.appifycommerce.com.
Personal information we collect
When you visit the Site, we automatically collect certain information about your device, including information about your web browser, IP address, time zone, and some of the cookies that are installed on your device. Additionally, as you browse the Site, we collect information about the individual web pages or products that you view, what websites or search terms referred you to the Site, and information about how you interact with the Site. We refer to this automatically-collected information as “Device Information.” We collect Device Information using the following technologies: – “Cookies” are data files that are placed on your device or computer and often include an anonymous unique identifier. For more information about cookies, and how to disable cookies, visit here. – “Log files” track actions occurring on the Site, and collect data including your IP address, browser type, Internet service provider, referring/exit pages, and date/time stamps. – “Web beacons,” “tags,” and “pixels” are electronic files used to record information about how you browse the Site. Additionally when you make a purchase or attempt to make a purchase through the Site, we collect certain information from you, including your name, billing address, shipping address, payment information (including credit card numbers, PayPal, Stripe), email address, and phone number. We refer to this information as “Order Information.” When we talk about “Personal Information” in this Privacy Policy, we are talking both about Device Information and Order Information.
How do we use your personal information?
We use the Order Information that we collect generally to fulfil any orders placed through the Site (including processing your payment information, arranging for shipping, and providing you with invoices and/or order confirmations). Additionally, we use this Order Information to: Communicate with you; Screen our orders for potential risk or fraud; and When in line with the preferences you have shared with us, provide you with information or advertising relating to our products or services. We use the Device Information that we collect to help us screen for potential risk and fraud (in particular, your IP address), and more generally to improve and optimize our Site (for example, by generating analytics about how our customers browse and interact with the Site, and to assess the success of our marketing and advertising campaigns).
Sharing your personal information
We share your Personal Information with third parties to help us use your Personal Information, as described above. For example, we use Shopify to power our online store–you can read more about how Shopify uses your Personal Information here. We also use Google Analytics to help us understand how our customers use the Site–you can read more about how Google uses your Personal Information here. You can also opt-out of Google Analytics here. Finally, we may also share your Personal Information to comply with applicable laws and regulations, to respond to a subpoena, search warrant or other lawful request for information we receive, or to otherwise protect our rights.
Session analytics in our Shopify apps
When you use one of our Shopify apps from your store's admin, we record how that app's own pages are used — clicks, navigation, and page content — so we can see where merchants get stuck and fix it. Recordings are kept for 30 days and then deleted automatically.
These recordings cover our app's admin pages only. We do not record your storefront, your checkout, or any other part of your Shopify admin. A recording is a reconstruction of what the app put on screen — it is not video, and we do not log keystrokes. Values typed into text, e-mail, number, date, search, telephone, URL and password fields, and into text areas and drop-downs, are masked in your browser before anything is sent to us. The areas that display customer details — names, email addresses and customer-submitted question text — are excluded from recording entirely, so they are never sent to us.
We set no cookies and create no identifier that follows you between sites or
between visits; the only thing kept in your browser is a random session number
that lives in one tab and is gone when you close it. Web addresses are stripped
of tokens, sign-in identifiers and email addresses before they are stored. We
keep your store's .myshopify.com domain, your browser's user-agent and window
size, and the country your connection resolved to — your IP address itself is
never stored.
We do not sell this data, and we do not use it for advertising or profiling. It is recorded by our own software on our own infrastructure rather than sent to a third-party analytics vendor; the only parties that process it are Appify Commerce and our hosting provider, Cloudflare, Inc. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we do not record your session at all; this applies to our apps regardless of the Site-wide position on Do Not Track signals described in the next section. You can also write to support@appifycommerce.com with your store domain and ask us to delete the recordings we hold.
Storefront diagnostics in our Shopify apps
Some of our apps add a small script to your storefront — for example ZoomMaster, which puts an image magnifier on your product pages. Once per product page view, that script sends us a single diagnostic message saying whether the feature actually started up on that page.
That message contains only: your store's .myshopify.com domain, your theme's
name and its Shopify Theme Store ID, which zoom mode and which of the app's zoom
settings are switched on, whether the feature initialised, how many product
images it attached to, the type of page (for example "product") and, on a
product page, that product's handle — the short name at the end of your own
product address — whether another image-zoom app is also running on the page,
whether the device was a mobile one, and whether the page was being viewed
inside the Shopify theme editor's preview rather than on the live storefront. It
contains no shopper information of any kind — no
names, email addresses, cart or order contents, no full page addresses, no
search or query text, no referring page, and no browsing
history. It sets and reads no cookies. Because the message is sent from the
shopper's browser, our server necessarily sees the connecting IP address as part
of the request; we do not store it and do not associate it with anything.
We use this for one purpose: so we can tell that a merchant's installation has silently stopped working before the merchant has to notice and contact us. It is never used for advertising or profiling, we do not sell it, and we do not share it with third parties.
This is a diagnostic message, not a recording. It is separate from the session analytics described above, which remain limited to our apps' own admin pages.
What our Shopify apps store about your store
When you install one of our Shopify apps we keep one record for your store so
the app can work and so we can support you: your store's .myshopify.com
domain, the store name, the store owner's email address, the store's currency
and Shopify plan name, the app's settings for your store, the access token
Shopify issues to the app, and the diagnostic messages described above. We keep
it while the app is installed. When you uninstall, the access token is cleared
straight away; when Shopify sends us its store-redaction request 48 hours later,
we erase the rest of the record.
Three services see parts of this record so the app can support you and so we can count installs:
- Support chat. The app's admin pages load our support chat
(
chatwoot.appifycommerce.com, our own Chatwoot instance) and hand it the store owner's email address, name and store domain, so a conversation you start is already linked to your store. - Google Analytics. We send Google Analytics one server-side event when an
app is installed, opened, activated on the storefront, subscribed to or
uninstalled. The only identifier in it is the store's
.myshopify.comdomain — no shopper data and nothing from your storefront. - Email. Install and uninstall emails go to the store owner's address through our own mail automation.
The setup video in the admin is embedded from YouTube's no-cookie player
(youtube-nocookie.com) and only loads when you open it.
